Sketch and Illustrate Garden Birds

Pay what you can (recommended price £20)

*Workshop recording available to watch from Saturday 8th March*

A handy workshop... whatever your style!

In this workshop we will be exploring techniques for sketching and stylising the birds you see in your garden or local park.

This is a really useful workshop if you would like to add birds to your sketchbook as part of a nature journal, or want to explore techniques for simplifying feathery forms into a more illustrative style!

During the class, we will be focusing on drawn line and form with the aim of creating a handy template for you to develop further with your own favourite ways to add colour be it, print, collage, paint, embroidery etc.

This class can be used as a stand alone sketchbook workshop or combined with other Wild Ink classes to build exciting and creative bird based projects! Recommended companion workshops are:

  • Collaged birds with Alice Melvin
  • Beautiful Birds Egg
  • Little Birdy books
  • Sketchbook Workshop: The Nature Table

This class is fun, flexible and teaches step by step skills. You can use the techniques to create detailed and realistic drawings but the focus of the class in the second half will be to capture the essence of the bird with a creative energy and line that’s all your own! This is an excellent class for loosening up and helping to develop your style!

What people are saying:

THANK YOU for inviting me to your "Free Work-a-long" yesterday!  For me - it was so enjoyable listening to you talk about your creative life and art.  In addition, I absolutely loved seeing the artwork created by the other ladies and listening to them discuss projects, books, meeting people, etc.  This was like a 'VISUAL PODCAST" where we worked along with you.~Karla

Thank you! I cannot begin to tell you  how wonderful I think this workshop is! Every time I think your classes can’t get any better …..Like many of your followers I feel this is the class I’ve been looking for but didn’t realise it!  Brilliant! ~Jane

I just wanted to thank you for how you make your classes accessible for me. I’m disabled and on a low income so many course offerings are beyond my affordability. Thank you for your generosity I very much appreciate it. I just did the mini map making course.  What fun!  I have a brain injury so video is the only way I can learn and I find your teaching style clear and simple to follow. ~Penny
